Poppy (Shelter name Sage)

Age: 1 year

Gender: Female

Size: Small

Location: Southampton, Hampshire

We are looking for a quiet child free experienced home for Poppy. One of a litter of 10 puppies found abandoned with their Labrador mother. She is looking for a home that has plenty of time and patience to dedicate to her and to continue her training. Poppy is looking for a home with a resident dog, that dog must be larger than herself (she is about the size of a Bassett hound) as her play is FULL ON, and needs a dog that is happy to be her new play buddy. She is cat friendly. She loves nothing more than a chew toy and lives for her walks, a walk around the park just isn’t going to cut it, she would love regular long walks in the countryside. Her recall needs further training so her forever home must be happy to continue to use a long line (not flexi line) until she is fully trained. She is not keen on traffic passing by her, so would prefer to be driven to her walk but new home should continue really slowly, not rushing her, with her traffic training. Poppy is initially hesitant when meeting new people, men more so, but as long as they are gentle and don’t rush her, she will come up and allow a scratch behind her ear. We are looking for a home with its own secure private garden. As long as she has plenty of toys to keep her occupied and had her comfort walk, she can be left for up to 4 hrs with no issues. Once she is settled, she travels OK in the car. She is house trained but a new home must be mindful there maybe accidents until routine is formed. A typical retriever cross, she LOVES water and her food 😊

  • Cat friendly
  • Can live with dogs
